In pre-colonial Philippine mythology, it was believed that Bakunawa, a gigantic sea dragon, would rise from the depths to swallow the moon during a lunar eclipse. For many indigenous communities, these celestial events were not simply natural phenomena—they were moments woven into their beliefs, traditions, and identity.
